Platform guides
Public videos download without any account. Some posts are only shown to logged-in people: stories, private profiles, friends-only posts, age-restricted videos. For those, connect your own account once and downloads use it automatically.
How connecting works
You never type your password here
You export your login from your own browser with a small extension, then upload that file. Instagram, Facebook and others block password logins from servers, and handing a password to any website is unsafe.
Stored encrypted, used only for you
The login is encrypted on the server and only used for your own downloads on that one site. It is never shown back to anyone, and your finished files are only visible to you.
You stay in control
Disconnect any time and it is deleted immediately. Deleting your account removes everything. Logging out of the site in your browser also ends the connected session.
A connected login works like being signed in on another device. Use a second account if you can, and only connect accounts on a server you trust. Never install the extension called “Get cookies.txt” (without “LOCALLY”). It was reported as malware.
Public reels often work without an account, but Instagram limits visitors quickly. Connect an account for stories, private profiles and reliable downloads.
Works without an account
- Public reels and video posts (when Instagram isn't limiting visitors)
- Videos inside public carousel posts
Needs your account
- Stories and highlights
- Posts from private accounts that your account follows
- Posts Instagram hides from visitors, or any post after Instagram starts asking visitors to log in
Connect your Instagram account
On a computer
- Install "Get cookies.txt LOCALLY" (Chrome, Edge, Brave) or "cookies.txt" (Firefox) from your browser's official add-on store.
- Open instagram.com and make sure you're logged in.
- Click the extension's icon and export the cookies for the current site. A .txt file is saved to your Downloads.
- Here: open Account, choose Instagram → Connect, and select that file.
On an Android phone
- Install Firefox from the Play Store. Chrome on Android can't run add-ons.
- In Firefox: menu → Add-ons → find "cookies.txt" → Add.
- Open instagram.com in Firefox and log in.
- Firefox menu → Add-ons → cookies.txt, then export the current site. The file goes to Downloads.
- Open this site, choose Account → Instagram → Connect, and pick the file from Downloads.
Tips
- Use a second Instagram account, not your main one.
- Instagram may ask "Was this you?" the first time the connected login is used from the server. Open the Instagram app and confirm it.
- Don't log out in the browser you exported from. Logging out ends the session this app uses. Just close the tab.
If it stops working
- "Instagram refused your connected account"
- You logged out, changed your password, or Instagram ended the session. Log in again on instagram.com and reconnect.
- It worked yesterday and now asks for login again
- Instagram may be asking the account for a security check. Open the Instagram app, complete it, then reconnect.

- In Firefox: menu → Add-ons → find "cookies.txt" → Add.

- Firefox menu → Add-ons → cookies.txt, then export the current site. The file goes to Downloads.

YouTube replaces the login cookies in normal tabs while you browse, so an export from a normal tab can stop working within hours.

- Age-restricted videos need an account with an adult birth date.
If it stops working
- Works once, then asks to sign in again
- The cookies were exported from a normal tab and YouTube rotated them. Export again from a private window (see above).
